New lighter and brighter fireplace accessories Some rearranging and a new houseplant to spring things up New window panels from Restoration Hardware My seven dollar window centerpiece
Love how old and crusty it is About a month ago, Kevin and I got to sneak away for a few hours and we ended up at Somerset. We strolled through Restoration Hardware, which is what we always do... just stroll. They had a table of window panels that were on clearance and I found some great bluish gray panels that I thought would look nice in our room. When I got them home, they weren't even close to the right shade but I still loved them and hated to return such a steal.
So I tried them out in the kitchen. I like my drop cloth curtains that I made but they were just a temporary fix. I loved they way the blue/gray looked in the kitchen. Previously all of our accent colors were always shades of burgundy and red. I didn't realize how sick I was of burgundy and red until I hung the curtains. They were a breath of fresh air and felt very spring like which is exactly what we're needing around here but not getting.
The curtains started a chain reaction of removing all of the red from our main living areas and replacing it with more muted colors. I re purposed some old accessories, bought a new pillow cover and found an old antique window near Frankenmuth. One of the glass panels is cracked but it isn't even noticeable it when it is up high on the fireplace. And for only seven dollars I think it adds a lot of character.
